Showering before entering your spa or wooden hot tub can be the most effective way to keep the body oils, shampoos, soaps, and deodorants that create foam out of your spa. Unfortunately, spa foam can still occur even when users shower as regular hot tub chemicals can cause foam by themselves.

Anti-Foam defoamer is used to remove unwanted foam and bubbles in spa and hot tub water. Northern Light's Anti-Foam is compatible with all sanitizers including bromine, chlorine and biguanide.

Anti-Foam is a completely safe way to eliminate these unwanted bubbles. Simply squirt a small amount on to the bubbles and they will quickly disappear. These bubbles can be the source of hot tub rings (line that forms on the top surface of tub just above water line). Use Anti-Foam regularly to avoid scum formed by bubbles.

Why is My Hot Tub Foaming?

1. Detergent Residue (The #1 Cause) The most common cause of spa foam is laundry detergent trapped in bathing suits. When the jets turn on, that residual soap creates a massive amount of suds.

• Tip: Rinse bathing suits in fresh water only—never wash them with soap.

2. Low Calcium Hardness If your water is too "soft" (low calcium), it naturally wants to foam.

• Tip: If you find yourself using Anti-Foam daily, check your Calcium Hardness levels. If they are low, balancing the water will solve the root cause.

3. Bio-Film and Old Water If the water is old or has a high TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) count, the water becomes "thick" and unable to release bubbles.

• Tip: NLCT Anti-Foam is a perfect temporary fix, but if the foam returns immediately after every treatment, it may be time to drain and refill your tub.
