As the mineral ionizer charges the metal electrodes, they break down creating the mineral ionizers. Every so often these need to be replaced with new metal electrodes. This is a quick installation that involves removing the old electrode and replacing it with a new one. The plug is included and simply plugs into the Argenia Mineral Ionizer controller.

How It Works (The Science of Ionization)

This electrode is made from a precise alloy of Copper, Silver, and Zinc.

1. Release: As electricity passes through the electrode, microscopic mineral ions are released into the water.

2. Attack: Copper kills algae, Silver kills bacteria, and Zinc adds water clarity.

3. Result: These minerals act as a residual sanitizer, allowing you to reduce your Chlorine or Bromine usage by up to 80%.

When should I replace it?

Because this is a Sacrificial Anode, it is supposed to wear away.

• Visual Check: Unscrew the cell and inspect the bars. If the metal bars are worn down to "pencil thin" or have significantly eroded, the ion production has stopped, and it is time to replace.

• Life Expectancy: Typically lasts 12 to 24 months depending on your spa usage and controller settings.

Installation Guide

Replacing the electrode is a simple 2-minute job.

1. Unplug: Disconnect the cable from the Argenia controller.

2. Unscrew: Remove the old electrode assembly from the tee-fitting in your plumbing.

3. Replace: Wrap the threads of the new unit with Teflon tape, screw it into the tee, and plug the new cable into the controller.

4. Reset: Reset your controller timer (if applicable).

Maintenance Tip

• Scale Buildup: Occasionally, calcium scale may form on the metal bars, looking like a white crust. This blocks the minerals from getting into the water.

• The Fix: Every 6 months, remove the electrode and soak the metal tips in a cup of white vinegar or "Scale Remover" for 10 minutes to clean them. This extends the life of the part!
