pH Up - pH Riser 2.5 Kg

Raises the pH of swimming pool water.

Add to pool when pH is low. Proper pH balance is an essential part of pool maintenance. The recommended range is 7.2 to 7.8. If the pH of your pool is low (below 7.2), the water will be acidic. Discomfort from skin and eye irritation could develop. This condition also causes the chlorine to become unstable, and therefore less effective in killing bacteria, algae, and in the disintegration of organic matter.

The "Anti-Corrosion" Shield for Pools & Cedar Tubs

Low pH (Acidic water) is a silent killer. You can't see it, but it is actively eating away at the copper in your heater element, the rubber seals in your pump, and the vinyl of your liner. By the time you notice a leak, the damage is done.

pH Up is the instant cure.

This professional-grade granular formula (Sodium Carbonate) rapidly raises the pH of your water, neutralizing acidity and bringing your pool or spa back into the safe "Neutral Zone" (7.2 - 7.6).

Why Cedar Tub Owners Need This:

If you own a Northern Lights Cedar Tub, this is your most important chemical.

  • The "Tannin" Factor: Natural red cedar contains tannins (the same acidic compound found in wine). As your new tub breaks in, these tannins leach into the water, constantly pulling your pH down.
  • The Fix: You will need to use pH Up frequently during the first few months of ownership to counteract the wood's natural acidity and protect your heater.

Why Pool Owners Love the 2.5 Kg Size:

Small bottles from the hardware store run out in one dose.

Bulk Value: This 2.5 Kg (5.5 lbs) pail provides enough product to manage a large swimming pool season or keep a hot tub balanced for a year.

The Dangers of Low pH (Below 7.2)

1. The "Disappearing Chlorine" Trick

When pH is low, your water becomes hyper-active. It burns through Chlorine effectively, but too fast. Your sanitizer dissipates rapidly into the air, leaving your water unprotected and forcing you to buy more chlorine constantly. Balancing the pH makes your chlorine budget go further.

2. Physical Discomfort

Have you ever opened your eyes underwater and felt an immediate sting? That isn't usually the chlorine—it's the pH. Acidic water strips the natural oils from your skin and irritates mucous membranes. Raising the pH makes the water feel "soft" and soothing again.

3. Equipment Corrosion (The Expensive One)

Water wants to be neutral. If it is acidic, it will try to satisfy itself by dissolving metals.

  • The Victim: Your Heater Element.
  • The Result: Pinhole leaks and heater failure.
  • The Cost: A $500+ repair bill that could have been prevented with a $20 bucket of pH Up.

How to Use

  • Test: Use a strip to confirm pH is below 7.2.
  • Measure:
    • For Spas: Start with 1-2 tablespoons (pre-dissolved in a bucket of water).
    • For Pools: Broadcast larger amounts over the deep end.
  • Circulate: Run the pumps for 30 minutes.
  • Retest: pH changes can be rapid. Always re-test before adding more.
