Northern Light's pH Booster is used to raise the pH in spa and hot tub water. This pH Increaser is compatible with all sanitizers including bromine, chlorine, and biguanide.

Proper pH balance is an essential part of spa/hot tub maintenance. The recommended range is 7.2 to 7.6. If the pH level becomes too low, the water will be acidic, leading to discomfort and skin/eye irritation. Low pH levels also cause sanitizers such as bromine and chlorine to become unstable and less effective. Test water levels regularly to ensure proper pH level.

How to tell if you need it:

Your water is trying to tell you it is acidic if:

1. Stinging Eyes: Low pH strips the natural tear film from your eyes. If you dunk your head and it stings, check your pH!
2. Itchy Skin: Acidic water dries out your skin rapidly.
3. The "Disappearing Sanitizer": If you add chlorine/bromine and it vanishes in an hour, your low pH is burning it off too fast.

Expert Guide: Dosing & Balance 

A common mistake is adding too much at once.

• Start Small: For a standard 1,500L tub, start with 1 tablespoon (approx 15g).
• Circulate: Run the jets for 15-20 minutes.
• Retest: Check the strip. If it's still low, add another tablespoon.
• Why? It is much easier to add more than to try and lower it back down if you overshoot!

Pre-Dissolve Strategy (Wood Tubs)

Although the granules are soluble, we recommend dissolving the powder in a small plastic bucket of spa water before pouring it into a Cedar Tub. This prevents undissolved granules from settling on the wooden floor, ensuring 100% safety for the timber.
